Travel & Safty Guide in Yangshuo
It is a very safe place to go around in Yangshuo Guilin, definitely much more safer than many other cities. However, there are some things you have to take care:
Your valuables.
Please leave your room card and valuables at the front desk of our hotel. There is few people to rob you directly in Yangshuo, even you stay up late in the night, it’s still saft to walk back. However, there is no reason to show your valuables to others. We recommend you go out with something necessary, including some cash. Especially, please be aware of pickpockets at the bus station, keep an eye on your valuables when you are shopping in the crowded streets. Some pickpockets could try to use knife to open your bags, so you’d better NOT leave your bags away from yourself, or put your bags on your back all the time. Therefore, the best way is to keep your valuables at the front desk of Yangshuo Hidden Dragon Villa, and travel easily.
Take some cash in RMB on you
Most of the places accept Visa and Master card in Yangshuo, but you’d better take some cash when you are going around the countryside since most of the interesting things to do in Yangshuo are in countryside. The people around countryside just accept RMB in cash, for instance, if you would like to try some local fruits and dishes.
Yangshuo Banks and ATMs
ABC bank, China Construction Bank, ICBC bank & Bank of China are all available in Yangshuo, You can get money in Yangshuo through ATMs & Banks. In Bank of China, you can cash your traveler’s cheque and change money. There are two branches in Yangshuo. One is located near the entrance of West Street. There's an ATM available. The other one is located 100 metres away from Bus station on the way to Guilin.
Yangshuo climate and wildlife
You’d better take some bug repellent for protecting from the mosquito, which is usually coming up from April to November, our hotel can offer you bug spray for free which won’t hurt you; It could be very hot from June to the middle of September . If you wanna swim in Li River or Yulong River, take care of depth in some places, in addition, the water could be rapid in Li River, that means it’s even more dangerous there. Make sure you go with some friends & life jackets: In Yangshuo, bees are active from July to Sep, usually bees and wasps can be found in grass, by overhangs, and near water. Please exercise caution in these areas. Snakes are most active in August, especially in the evenings. Please keep your eyes open when you are climbing on the mountains or entering into on jungle, or walking through tall grass areas. If you are bitten by a snake, do not run and cry loudly which will make the blood circulate faster, try to make the blood with poison out, flush the wound with water and look for medical attention as soon as possible.
The traffic in Yangshuo
Usually speaking, you can go anywhere with you bike, but you have to park your bike carefully in Yangshuo Town. If you can not find your bike after coming out from shop, probably you bike would be taken away when you parked the bike nearby the road. You’d better contact hotel; When cycling around countryside, please watch for motorcycles and tractors which often run onto the main roads without warning or come out from your back.

If you come across some problems and need the emergency services. You can dial 110, 120, 122,119 directly. But we recommend you call our staff, they can offer you the helpful info and services immediately. Usually, if you are injured, you can choose The People's Hospital of Yangshuo County, which is the best one in Yangshuo can offer you the very professional services, and located on Shenshan Road. Our staff also could be translator for you if necessary. For getting Chinese traditional treatments, you can go to see Dr. Lily, who has a massage and acupuncture shop at Gui Hua Road, just behind West Street.
Languages in Yangshuo
Even many people in Yangshuo can speak English due to the tourism, but most people in Yangshuo just speak Chinese Mandarin,or the local dialects. It could be much more better if you can speak some Chinese,you’d better try to pickup some Chinese Mandarin, you can choose to ask our friendly staff. Post office, Telecommunications Office
Post Office in Yangshuo is very easy to be found opposite of the entrance of West Street. The service is fast and reliable, very easy for foreigners to mail things. If you like, our staff can help you to mail things as well, as long as you tell them the details. For oversea call, you can go to Telecommunications Office where is next to Post Office. Working time: 8:30am to 9:00pm. Or you can buy a card and use your cellphone to call.
Travel agency and information
For getting more tour information in Yangshuo, you can go to China Tourist Service (CTS), which has an office near the entrance of the Yangshuo Park. But we recommend you ask our staff first who can offer you the same tour services in Yangshuo with reasonable prices.
