Travel Guide in Xi'an China
Xi'an (Chinese: 西安; pinyin: Xī'ān), located in central-northwest China, around 1500km from Yangshuo Guilin, which is one of the birth places of the ancient Chinese civilization in the Yellow River Basin area, with a history more than 3,100 years and well known as Chang'an (长安; pinyin: Cháng'ān;) before the Ming Dynasty. Xian is the capital of the Shanxi province in China, as well as the four oldest Great Ancient Capitals of China in history (the other three are Beijing,Luoyang, Nanning), including the most important dynasties in Chinese history: Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang dynasties. Xi'an is the eastern terminus of the Silk Road, due to the eastern terminal of the Silk Road and the site of the famous Terracotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty, Xian has won a good reputation in the world, and becomes more and more important as economic, cultural, industrial and educational center of the central-northwest region.
Climate in Xian
The climate in Xi'an City is continental semi-arid, features a temperate climate influenced by the East Asian monsoon which is a little different from Yangshuo weather. It is mild in Spring and Autumn, hot and humid in summers, cold and dry in winter. Usually, dust storms occur during March and April as the city rapidly warms up,thunderstorms can happen in Summer, snow falls in winter but not for long.
Local highlights
For sightseeing, Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses is the most famous place among Xian attractions. The great archeological excavation of Qin (221BC-206BC) Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses unfolded a strong army of altogether 7,000 life-size pottery soldiers, chariots, horses and weapons arranged in battle formations symbolically, guarding the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. City Wall is another attractions in Xian, Adorned with a moat and the circular park, the wall surrounds the square inner city of Xian. It is the most complete city wall to survive in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world, built first in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and renovated in recent years.
For dining, Xian has been rich in delicious local snacks such as the must-try Yang Rou Pao Mo, Liang Pi and Rou Jia Mo. Tourists can also find delicate Guangdong dishes, popular Sichuan food and various kinds of fashionable foreign delicacies.
Transports in Xian
As one of the most importation and convenient travel hubs in China, there are frequent flights, trains and buses connect Xian with other major cities all around China. You can also find flights,trains and buses to Xi'an in Guilin directly. Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is the major airport serving the city and is the largest airport in the northwestern part of China. The airport is located to the northwest of the city, between Xi'an and Xianyang. There are direct flights from Xi'an to many major cities in Asia, including Bangkok, Osaka, Pusan, Sapporo, Hong Kong and Singapore. Xi'an Railway Station is one of the eight major national railway stations since there are 6 passenger transport railway stations here. Other stations in Xi'an include Xi'an West, Xi'an East, Xi'an South, Sanmincun, Fangzhicheng railway stations. Xi'an North Railway Station is under construction. Xi'an Railway Station provides 112 services to 80 thousand people daily with many trains to main cities in China. It also has been a significant increase in the number of privately-owned vehicles among middle and upper class households in Xi'an.Taxi services are numerous but many citizens of Xi'an still commute to work on one of more than 200 bus routes.
