Guilin (Chinese: 桂林; Pinyin: Guìlín)
Guilin is one piece of paradise on the earth, situated in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China, and is famous for its unique karst landscapes in the world.

History in Guilin
According to record, a small group of people came here and settled along the Li River in 314BC. And then, this wonderland was established as a small county in 111 BC during the Han Dynasty, and got developed since the Tang and Song dynasties. As one important nexus between the central government and the southwest border, it became the political, economic and cultural center of Guangxi. In 1921, Sun Yat-sen, the first president in China, came here and made this city as one of the headquarters of the Northern Expeditionary Army. In 1940, this city was named Guilin. In 1981, this ancient city became one of the four cities in China (the other three are Beijing, Hangzhou and Suzhou) for protecting the historical and cultural heritage, as well as natural scenery.

Guilin covers 27,809 km2 and 17 counties. Yangshuo County is the top one among the others. As the old saying goes, Guilin has the best scenery under the heaven, but Yangshuo is even more than that of Guilin. People in Guilin
There are many ethnic minorities here including the Zhuang, Yao, Hui, Miao, Mulao, Maonan and Dong, which enrich the cultural life of the city. Every minority has its own unique customs and festivals. They are much more abundant here than in many other places elsewhere in China.

Guilin Local Specialities
The local specialities could be one attraction for many tourists. All we known , the famous Guilin chili sauce, Guìlín làjiāojiàng (桂林辣椒酱), used widely in cooking by locals, garlic, and fermented soybeans. Guilin chili sauce, Guilin Sanhua Jiu (桂林三花酒) and Guilin pickled tofu (桂林豆腐乳) are considered as the city's Three Treasures (桂林三宝). For dining, we can NOT forget Guilin rice noodles (桂林米粉; pinyin: Guìlín mǐfěn), the local breakfast staple since the Qin dynasty and are renowned for their delicate taste. Specifically, this local specialty is noodles with horse meat, but this dish can also be ordered without the horse meat. Also, the snack are very popular here. Zongzi (粽子; pinyin: zòngzi), a dumpling made from glutinous rice and mung bean paste wrapped in a bamboo or banana leaf is another popular delicacy in Guilin. For more dishes, people here like to use something to stuff with different meats, such as the snails, eggplants etc can be used to do these dishes, so here comes the Stuffed Snail Dishes and Stuffed Eggplant Dishes etc.

Transports to Guilin
Airport: Guilin Liangjiang Airport, international airport with many flights to main cities in China and Asia.
Train Station: Guilin Train Station, with trains to most of cities in mainland.
Bus Station: There are 2 bus stations in Guilin, the official one has all the buses to many places, the other one is in front of Guilin Train Station.
